I love every chance I get to go back to my home town of Terre Haute. There’s just something about being able to cross the entire town in under 8 min. I’m photographing three weddings this year in Terre Haute and one’s for Jennifer and Greg. They’re a great couple who we met last December while shooting her sister’s wedding. We loved hanging out with their family and so we’re really looking forward to doing it all again this August.
But that’s still a ways away. Let’s focus on the now!!! Here are some of my favorite shots from Jennifer and Greg’s engagement session.
We started out on ISU’s campus. There’s a roof I used to always go on while attending school here and knew it would be perfect for these photos.

I love me some silhouette.

ISU just finished their new parking garage (which was much needed!), so we went to check it out and found some great opportunities for shots.

What I’m not so fond of in Terre Haute are the Trains. It never fails! If you drive around for more then 15 min., you’re going to get railroaded. And Yes! railroaded is a word (and you’d know it well if you’ve ever spent any amount of time here).

After ISU we made our way to Dobb’s Park, which is known for it’s great trails… so we took full advantage. I have to say, Jennifer and Greg were quite the troopers, we walked for quite some time to find the right spot (sometimes through mud and thorns). You guys rock!

Thank you two so much. I had a lot of fun (and definitely got my workout in for the day). We’re really looking forward to the Wedding.

Thought we’d share this fun photo! (((By the way, taking photographs while driving is very dangerous! So please DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME… or ON THE ROAD. Remember we are trained professionals!))) Our family recently got bigger with the addition of our new MacBook Pro. Doesn’t she look so sweet sitting there on Jennifer’s lap while she uploads photos. We can’t get over how much it’s helped being able to work remotely. Can’t you can tell by my big, natural smile. We’ve been able to cut down on post processing and it’s helped to justify visiting more family and friends (mixing business and pleasure CAN be a good thing). We have some great events coming up to post, so don’t stay away for too long. See ya soon!

post by Jen B…
If you recall this past Sunday, it was a perfect day for photography. Bits of breeze, a blue sky spattered with fluffy clouds and periods of sunshine. What was most special was spending an hour at Napier Farms, home to Jessica, bride-to-be.
We were blown away by the open land, the horses running ’bout and the peace that a rural setting brings. City folk don’t know what they’re missing. I love living in the city, er suburbs, but there’s just a warm feeling about being on the farm.
We hope you will feel the bliss we did as you view these photos.

Didn’t I tell you this was beautiful?

Say hello to Shannon and Rico Suave, the baby quarter horses we couldn’t get enough of. They rock.

Brett, you steered us right to this one.

Haaaaaaayyy!

Jessica is naturally gorgeous…totally simple and sweet. Love this shot KB.

I know this shot doesn’t look like much now, but this is where they’ll be building their new home!! How cool is that? Jessica pointed the spot out to us during the shoot. We knew we had to end the post with it.

Congratulations Jessica and Brett. You were a joy to photograph. We can’t wait for the big day.

Meet Stacey and Andrew…

They got married in Greenwood (represent!) at Saints Francis and Clare and had their reception at the delicious Pipers on SR37! WE LOVE PIPERS.
I love this shot of Stacey getting ready, because she just lit up when she put her vail on. She later told me that Andrew had agreed to let her wear the tiara the next day on their way to Cancun.

I found the “something blue.” I thought it was a great spin on that tradition, and it matched the wedding color – perfect!

Stacey was smiling all day…

I was lovin’ the bow ties. I just think they’re classic and clean. Very nice!

I’m not quite sure what the “3″ meant, but I love all you can pull from this photo.

Andrew was smiling too in anticipation of the big moment.

The guys waiting around for the festivities to begin…
When the Bride and her Father get together right before they go down the aisle, it’s always such an emotional time. This was Jennifer’s grab.

The parents came up to the front during the blessing and placed their hands on Stacey and Andrew. It was a really touching moment. You gotta love the look that they’re giving each other.

You think this kiss is good…

this one almost knocked Andrew over!

YES! Some one on one time… if you don’t count me and Jennifer? Check out the ROCK!!!

Like I said earlier, they were great to work with and up for anything. Which allows us to try some new things. You like?

The reception was great. I can’t say enough about the food at Pipers. Plus, they have an outstanding staff, and the venue space is really elegant and classy.
Andrew got to pick out the photo they used for the signature mat. It was a shot from their engagement shoot. And I loved it. I don’t know if he picked it because of how big she was smiling or how big his arms looked?

The first dance…

I love shooting in low light for the first dance and taking a long exposure. I think it really catches the feeling of the moment.

These last photos were of something I’ve never seen before. It was a game to see who would be head of the household. I don’t know if explaining it would help… so just enjoy.

Thank you two so much. We had such a good time at your wedding.

On April 23rd, Laura Jo celebrated her first birthday. The photos that follow were taken recently in Columbus, IN. What a great city…it was the first time I saw first-hand why Columbus celebrates their architectural and artistic gems.
Laura is the daughter of my dear friend, Mindy and her husband Brett. Mindy and I became close friends in college. I really do miss those days MP! It was awesome seeing the love between this young family. I cheesed a lot myself this night and truly enjoyed experiencing a few hours in the life of the Roeders.
Laura is simply wonderful. Enjoy….

Thumbs Up!

Laura recovered quickly after a fever earlier in the day….probably because she knew she was going to see her favorite friends, Jen and Kurtis!! Really, she was happy the whole night. It’s great to be able to shoot with ease.

She rocked the sunglasses for a bit. I just like the humor of this one. I think she was saying, “Hey, where’s my soccer ball?!”

So I had to scoop her up…too irresistible! She’s holding Bam Bam, the lamb. And looking a little confused being held…but hey, she didn’t cry!

At a nearby park, we found this ivy-covered tunnel. Very nice!

Then, we moved on to these cool, colored stacks. The blue popped for me, so we took advantage!

I think it was Brett’s idea for this next one — we loved it! It’s always fun when our subjects start thinking artistically too!

Last, but not least. The Roeders…showin some love.

Beautiful friends, thank you so much. Can’t wait to see you again.

And so the great experiences continue as we watch Kate and Scott get married. They picked out great locations to act as the back drop for their Wedding. The ceremony was at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, and their reception was at the Children’s Museum. Both were great venues with incredible architecture and huge ceilings!!! Plus they added a lot of personal touches by designing everything themselves, from the programs and table numbers to even the cake.
I thought that this photo was a good way to start off the post considering all of the election drama currently going on.

Kate got her hair and makeup done at Studio 2000 downtown. Their facilities rocked and had huge windows (plenty of light for taking spectacular photos) with a great view of the Circle. There were so many great shots of her getting her make up done… this is my favorite.

I kind of get that classic Hollywood set/stage kind of feel from this photo, where the star is just about to walk out and WOW! everybody.

How about Kate’s dress!!! She looked amazing in it. Here she is checking herself out! ”Not bad, Not bad at all!”

Back to Kate in a second, but first you have to meet Scott. Scott is super nice and very laid back. Which makes our job easier and enjoyable.

This photo is one of the many reasons I love shooting with Jennifer. She took a completely different angle then mine and rocked the house with it. Definitely my favorite shot of hers.

Doesn’t Kate look so Classic!

Things got a little emotional during the Prayers to the Faithful. The prayers were very well written and very well spoken. (a little side note: Father Munshower was celebrating his 50 years of service to the church. Congrats!)

Flowers for Mary.

Check out the Cathedral. I wasn’t lying about how beautiful it was!!! The perfect backdrop for the kiss…

I was looking forward to Kate and Scott’s exit from the church for weeks. The used a Surrey bike to ride off into the sunset, figuratively speaking, because the clouds were out and there was a slight drizzle. Luckily they got a short ride in and didn’t have to use different transportation.

Now for some quiet time! I couldn’t help myself with this texture…

To top of the personalization of their wedding, Kate and Scott had a choreographed first dance. It was awesome!!! It started off slow and then picked up later in the song… that’s when they broke out the Tango. These are just of the practice before they entered the reception. You’ll see the live ones later.

The Children’s Museum throws a great reception. Look at the set up! and the food was great too.

Their designs and personal touches. It helps having a architect and graphic designer in the house!

The real thing!

The view of the dance from the 4th floor. I love how everyone is gathered around the mezzanine railing to watch.

The other great thing about having your reception at the Children’s Museum, is that some of the galleries are open. We went to the Carousel Gallery right before it closed for the night and got a few shots. I love how the images turned out so whimsical and dream-like.

Thank you Kate and Scott for letting us take part in your big day. We had a blast! You two were awesome and so great to work with. We’re really looking forward to that bike ride when you two get back!!!
