I was sitting in my hammock the other day and just started thinking. There is so much to be thankful for in this world, so much to admire, so much to love. When you sit and think about these things it reminds you of how stupid the small things that upset us really are. We all should be thankful no matter where we are or what we’re doing. Thankful for the help we got from others, that fed us, that sheltered us. Everything. Try to thank someone or something today. It doesn’t matter who or what. Just do it. Just remind yourself of all you have to be thankful for. And if it’s hard to come up with anything… take a deep breath and be thankful that you’re alive.
Go love someone today! Go love everyone today!
I had the great opportunity this past weekend to document Landon’s first time out to play golf. His father, Travis, was so excited to finally be able to take his son out on the course. Landon was also very excited and had a smile from ear to ear the whole day. Check ‘em out!

Landon watching dad hit the long ball! and picking up some pointers.

It was amazing how well Landon was making contact.

There are several great ways to enjoy the day on a golf course; like hitting a massive drive, chipping one in or making that 30 foot putt… but don’t forget about the transportation. Golf carts are great fun, but are even better if you’re 5 years old.

He quickly picked up that part of the sport too… enough to where he was able to aim for that puddle.

For his first time out it was only 9 holes. But soon he’ll be ready for 18, and then the PGA tour, and then a play off with TIger!!! But for now they’ll just take their time and enjoy the day together… Great Job Landon!

This is something that I thought was really cool and wanted to share with everyone. Below is a picture of the Nasa’s International Space Station going across the night sky. It may look a “little” shaky, because I wasn’t given much notice (no tripod with 30 sec. exposure does not mix), but you can go online and see where in the sky it’ll pass and when (click here to find a city near you). Very Cool! I’m going to try and get a better picture next time (use a tripod). It’s so neat though, because it just looks like a bright star quickly crossing the sky ( it’s normally only visible for a few min.). A little side note: It’s not the lights aboard the station that make it so visible, it’s the sun reflecting off of it and back down towards us. Check it out!!!

(In this picture it went from the left to the right… look how good I was doing for the first 5 seconds of the exposure with no tripod… and then I just lost control)

Beaumont, Texas, the early home of my grandmother and current home to much of her side of our family was the place to be this past weekend. Nineteen “yankees” (that’s us) went South to celebrate the 50th anniversary of my Great Aunt Marie and Uncle Boo. What a wonderful celebration among an unbelievable family…I’m still smiling over all of the goodness. We were served up, and there’s nothing like Southern hospitality (and mouthwatering meals)!
Rock Band Rules! Graham, way to start to the party.

Johnny makin’ waves…

the Queen of Capture…

GG’s even getting techy!

I used to do this all the time. I love it!

Here’s the Golden Couple…

A few tugs of the cork… a quick pour… and CHEERS to Marie and Alex!

My 104 year old Great Great Grandmother, Bertha Noble. Incredible.

Mama Dale’s Home

this shouts, Don’t Mess with Texas!

Broussard Farm was awesome. So much to do!

Nice lasso Laying!

We were treated to an extra special crawfish boil – one of my weekend favorites! Holy YUM!

Can you tell we were rookies?!

The food was indescribable, and because we were stuffing our faces with crawfish, barbeque crabs, jambalaya, hush puppies, and more….I missed getting other good food photos. And I love taking shots of beautiful food. However, I did manage one of our morning Tasty Creme’s. Thanks Catherine!

More entertainment followed…

A bear hunt Joannie-style…this was new to most of the young Texas cousins

Blue rocked out…

Tom on guitar. Jim on the washboard.

And the dancin’ began…

What a Night.
We ended the weekend with Sunday Mass at St. Anthony’s Basilica…beautifully renovated. We photograph so many weddings, but never have I witnessed a renewal of vows. So special.

A big thanks again to all y’all! Let’s plan the next one!

Ashleigh and Travis were one of the nicest couples I’ve ever had the privilege of photographing. They got married at the beautiful East 91st Street Christian Church and had their reception at the Montage. Everything was so beautiful well planned out. The only thing that threatened this perfect day were the possibility of some nasty T-storms… luckily they held off just long enough.
Ashleigh got ready at the church and had all sorts of friends and family there to help. She does a great job of delegating!

WOW!!! How beautiful is Ashleigh.

Travis and the Guys.

You picked a great man Ashleigh!!!

The Mom’s were practicing their candle lighting duties… and celebrated a clean run with a high five!

The Entrance!

I love this shot from the candle lighting.

The job of a Maid of Honor is not always a pretty one.

These next few are when we I was able to separate the newlyweds from their friends and family. They got a little time to just take a deep breath and enjoy the feeling of the day and take in all that normally gets rushed over during the busy obligations of a wedding ceremony and reception.

Now that’s a Reception Entrance!!!

First order of business was to cut the cake.

It was right after dinner was served that the skies opened up and rain came pouring down. That’s what I call good timing!!!

I couldn’t resist…

What’s with all of these people under Ashleigh’s dress??? Seriously!

Thank you both again for letting take part in one of the biggest days in your lives. I had a lot of fun and can’t wait to show you the rest of the photos.

Kathy and James are about to be the proud parents of a new baby boy. And we were lucky enough to be asked to do their maternity shoot. We’ve been good friends with Kathy and James for a while and were really excited about this one. Once we did the shoot and saw the photos, we were even more excited to show them off.
We started the shoot on the IMA grounds. Kathy’s a painter (see her stuff here) and so obviously enjoys the museum, but they both like to walk around the grounds and take in the beautiful gardens.

So we totally ripped this one from bobbi and mike. But if I remember correctly, she wasn’t the originator of this shot… just the one who does it the best.

Jennifer was rockin’ the house with this shoot. Here are just a couple of ‘em.

The coolest part about this shoot was Kathy’s belly. She had a baby shower the weekend before and had a henna artist come in and do her thing on the “baby.” How awesome is that!

My favorite from the day… in the Dr. Suess plants (as Kathy likes to call them).

What would a visit to the IMA be with out a little “LOVE” sculpture Love!!!

After we were done at the IMA, we headed to Kathy and James’ house. They had recently finished the nursery, so we had to do some pictures there. And of course, we had to break out the blocks. Can you guess the baby’s middle name???

Poor Presley was feeling left out, so we made sure to include her in a few photos.

James was cracking us up through out the entire shoot. So I felt obligated to show a little of that off. Here’s my second favorite from the whole shoot, just because it looks like he’s saying, “Look guys, I did it!”

Thank you two so much. We had a blast and are looking forward to baby pictures!!!
Congratulations!!!
