I wish I had something really scary to post right now… but I don’t. In fact there’s really nothing scary about the engagement post of Amberlee and Kirk. The pictures we took of them made me smile really big, not scream. Oh well! I guess if there was one scary thing about the shoot, it would be the terrible wind that blew us around all day! You probably remember the 40 mph winds this past Sunday. Well multiply that by the flat, treeless Attica farm lands.
Attica!!! Yup, that’s where Kirk grew up. And Amberlee… A HAUTIAN!!! WOOO HOOO, I love me some Terre Haute people. We actually went to the same highschool for a couple of years (she was two grades back). She was always super sweet then and nothing’s really changed. Except for now she has a really good man in her life!
Anyway, enough with the setup. Here’s the photos from Amberlee and Kirk’s Engagement Shoot. Enjoy!

Amberlee has the biggest smile. I love it!!!

We were able to find a couple spots out of the wind.

Kirk and his friends used to hang out at this bridge some nights. You could see some empty cans still stuck in the top trusses. We had a good laugh at that!

Jen’s favorite shot!

What!!! Oh, this shoot was so freakin’ cool.

Kirk is a professional diver (not like the ones in the olympics). He said he has three important things in this life: Amberlee, his truck (not pictured) and his diving helmet.

I have to give some credit to Bobbi and Mike. This shot was spun from a pose they use a lot. The “sitting in front of an old car” pose. We took a little different angle on it and I really like how it turned out!

Ah Ha! So all of that nasty wind was for this one shot! And it’s my new favorite Engagement Photo.

The scary part was right here. Because if you scroll up about 5 photos you’ll see what the sky looked like not even a half an hour before the shot below. Now that was scary!

And a quick shout out to their good friend who supplied us the use of their awesome combine and trailer with straw (not hay!!!). This next shot is for you!

Amberlee and Kirk: Thank you two so much for braving the wind. This turned out to be an amazing shoot. You two are awesome! We can’t wait to shoot the wedding!!!

I was asked about a month ago by Zach Dobson to assist him on a wedding. My answer… HELL YEAH! I love getting the chance to second shoot. It’s really nice not having to set anything up, but just showing up and shooting. Plus you get to meet other great wedding vendors like Bob Ridge from Indy Visual, one of only a few videographers I’d recommend from the Indy area.
So here are just a few of my favorite shots from the wedding!

Lovin’ it!

The Omni was a great venue!

After the ceremony, we made a quick stop at the circle. Zach’s hard at work!

Assumed conversation in next photo:
Man: “You better start behaving!”
Little Girl: “Nice Tie!!!”

I feel like I’m really behind on posting! We’ve been extremely busy and haven’t had a lot of time for the blog. Besides Weddings and Portraits we have quite a few personal posts we’ve wanted to share. So we’ll try to do better!
Now meet the Petersons!!! if you haven’t already. I believe they’ve been on the blog before. I know at least two of them have. Ella and Libby were on when we posted the pictures from Camp Kurt and Jen (what a great weekend that was!)!!! So, now meet the rest. Michalina (my sister and a super sweet mom), Dale (her husband, a great father and steer expert!… seriously) and Molly (the family’s newest addition and winner of most adorable baby award…that’s national by the way!).
What a beautiful family!

For those families that I’ve worked with in the past, they already know, my sessions tend to be 10% pose and 90% PLAY!!! How else would you get these expressions!

Told ya! Most Adorable Baby! I have her address if you’d like to like to send fan mail.

She also does impressions. I’ll give you a hint: “when she eats her’s spinach!” Gi gi gi gi… toot toot.

This was a personal request from the Petersons. And Jen and I loved it. They reside in the country side, so we had to incorporate some corn.

This is all Libby right here. She wasn’t prompted AT ALL to do this. It was about the fifth photo I took of her standing there and all of a sudden she pulls this corn cob out and acts like she’s going to eat it. That’s our God-Daughter!!! I just didn’t think those personality traits would transfer from me like that???

And with this look we knew it was time to wrap up the shoot!

It was good spending time with you all then and last night (the chicken & noodles were deliciousness!). You are all great subjects. We look forward to doing it again. Love ya!
As I’m trying to cut down the number of photos for this post I start to realize just how awesome of a wedding this was. Nick and Lauren got married a week and a half ago and we were delighted to be able to document their day. They were one of the nicest (and funniest) couples we’ve gotten to work with all year and they were up for almost anything (as long as there wasn’t a spider anywhere near, right Nick!). So besides that little detail we were able to really have some fun and do a lot with their portraits. We’ll get to those later, but let’s start from… the start.
Getting ready at the Church. Nick arrived first.

We were able to get a few of the guy’s photos in before Lauren was ready!

Lauren looked Stunning!

This is the reason I love when couples meet before the ceremony! WOW. I love Lauren’s expression!!!

There were a few other people who wanted a peek at the first meeting!

Cuddle-up close!!!

And on to the ceremony! It was a very personal service.

We were so excited to shoot at Buck Creek Winery. The vineyards were beautiful. A great idea and all credit goes to Nick and Lauren!

Their reception was at Occasions in Shelbyville. Very nice!

Nick’s reaction to a guest yelling out, “Smash it in his face Lauren!”

A four piece band led the reception festivities.

Lauren and Nick – Thanks again for letting us take part in your Wedding. We really enjoyed spending the time with you. Especially the grape tasting!!! You two ROCK! We’re looking forward to showing you the rest of the images from your Wedding.

So this makes the 3rd post of Kendra and Josh’s wedding and I’m just now getting to the actual events of the day. (previous posts were of creative portraits and then the photo booth) But now we have the REAL thing.
This is how the sky looked ALL DAY!!! WOW! I hardly touch this photo. That’s just how blue it was!

And this is how happy Kendra was all day! They were both so happy and excited to be marring each other!!!

A clever catch by Jennifer! The exit sign in the back?

Kendra looked AMAZING!!!

Josh lookin’ quite dapper himself!!!

Jennifer hard at work!

The Sanctuary was BEAUTIFUL! And there was so much natural light. Jen and I were eating it up!

The first dance!

We love this shot! This boy was the recipient of the garter. Too cute! And check out the garter itself… a nice surprise for Josh, a huge Michigan Fan!

A little Rocky Top Tennessee anyone???

Josh and Kendra ended up being part of the entertainment. Josh had been taking lessons from Jeff Day (lead vocals from the band Some Day) who was actually playing their reception. Kendra was asked to come up and add some vocals. You could tell just how much fun they were having.

Josh and Kendra – Thanks again!!! I know I’ve already said this, but we had a great time at your wedding and hope see you all again soon.

This was great!!! The first time we’ve tried out the photo booth idea at a reception and it was freakin’ awesome! We had a blast all day at the Smith wedding and were at the reception grabbing some great dance photos (which you’ll see later on this week when we show off the rest of the wedding) when the thought popped in my head… PHOTO BOOTH! So here you go…
But before we get started I need to give an update: Sunny Wilderman won! In the “Leave it to Weaver” post I ask a question about a classic (‘94) rap song and she was the first one to guess it! Ahmad – “Back in the day.” Great song. If you’re feeling a little nostalgic hop on Itunes and look it up. By the way… the prize is a $10 Itunes gift certificate. Time to download some victory songs Sunny!!!
Okay back to the photo booth…

I think we need another leaf!

There were quite a few rockers present!

And when there’s no one to love in the photo booth… just love yourself!

And of course we had to “check the lighting.” It’s not like we were playing around… seriously people… we’re working here!!! geesh!

More to come from the Smith’s!
