The contest ends this evening at 11:59pm. So make sure to get your photo in by then. The details are three posts below this one, so scroll down for all of the guidelines for entering. We’ve already had several entries and are amazed by what you all have come up with. There is one change that’s been made since the last post, I will not be judging the winners. I’m gathering some judges for the contest that will have a chance to view the images without knowing who shot them. I feel much better doing it this way. And we still hope to have the results up by the end of the week.
Now get to work, and by work I mean away from the computer and away from what you’re so comfortably used to photographing and make a little abstract art!!!
I’ve been loving the entries so far. And they’ve inspired me to do a little more. So here’s a few more that I’ve come up with. And although some of these are border-line non-representational, I’m still showing them.

Just so you know all of these were shot using the back of my office chair and the morning sun. And no photoshop used either, just some tweaks in lightroom!
Thanks for stopping by, enter the contest and have a wonderful day!

There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes here at KBP (the same I’m sure with any biz). The downloading, backing up, backing up again, cutting down, cutting down again, editing, designing, and so on and so on. So it’s really nice every once in a while to just arrive somewhere, shoot, hand over the memory cards and say “Peace Out!” Well, I got the chance to do that this past weekend when I shot with Kiera for one of her weddings. The wedding of Mario and Jessica.
Have a look!

I got to hang out with Mario and the men most of the morning.

It was a really good group of guys!

See what I mean!

And here’s Jessica… currently beating a bridesmaid with her bouquet.

Kiera workin’.

The first siting of the day.

We all hung out together while guests arrived.

Just about to walk down.

Mavris really is a beautiful venue.

After the ceremony we headed to the circle and the canal.

I’m not sure myself… it was their idea.

One of my favorite posed photos from the day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Things in your last semester of High School can be crazy! And with all of the stuff going on some times (and it hurts me to say this, but!) Senior Photos can get pushed aside. No worry though. Just ’cause schools out doesn’t mean it’s too late. In fact it’s a better time then any other… the weather is better and now the Senior has more time!
Well, that’s what happened with Andy. So we just shot these just last week. Check ‘em out!

Yup! That’s his bike!

These concrete pipes made for some great images!!!

South-side Hautians should know where the next few were taken!

Andy and Kim – Thanks again for having me take these (and driving the Element, so that I could hang out the back!
). I really enjoyed rollin’ around Terre Haute with you all.

As promised we’re having another photography contest! Up for grabs is a $50 gift certificate to Robert’s or your favorite local photography store. And again this contest is to get you out and about so that you can shoot something different and fun and maybe learn a little more about your camera. This contest’s theme is “Abstract Photography.” This can include textures, designs, blurred images, ect… anything that isn’t a straight forward shot of a person, place or thing. Feel free to mess with your focus, get in close to distort the image (a little macro please!) or have a little fun in photoshop! That’s right you can even use photoshop in this contest. Have some fun and see what you come up with!
Just so it’s clear the winner of this contest will be the one that interprets the rules the best. So here are the rules!
1. You must be the sole artist of the photos. No sharing or collaboration is allowed for this contest.
2. It needs to be G rated. Some of my viewers only look at the pictures… because they can’t read yet!
3. You are limited to 1 entry. Just one, so make it good. And although the purpose of this contest is to get you out and shoot new and different things, you can enter in images that were previously made.
4. The images should not depict a clear object, person, landscape or situation. This is an abstract photo contest! You may use photoshop to alter the images. This may be one of the only contest where this is allowed, so go crazy!!!
5. A short description can be presented explaining the photo, but is not necessary.
6. You have to send the files to my personal email address by Tuesday (June 30th) before 11:59pm. That gives you a full week to get out and do it. Jennifer and I will be choosing the winner for this contest. Sorry, no voting for this one! My email – (kurtisabowersock@aol.com)
7. Please resize the images to 12 in. (on the longest side) at 72 dpi. If you don’t have the software to change the size of your images or have no idea what that first line even means then disregard and send the pictures anyway. But you Pro Photographers know better! ![]()
8. And just so it’s clear what you’re fighting for, the winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Roberts (or your favorite local camera shop). That’s one step closer to that new lens, memory card, software, camera bag, flash or digital frame that you’ve always wanted!!! 2nd and 3rd place will have a nice little take-home too!
NOW GET OUT THERE AND SHOOT AWAY!!!
As before here’s a few that I’ve shot!
Anybody recognize this!

Playing with focus and my window screen.

This is one of our drinking glasses. I used an amazing trick Kiera showed me this past weekend. You can make a macro lens out of a 50mm (a great inexpensive lens) by flipping it around and shooting through the opposite way. Obviously it’s not going to lock on, so you have to hold it up and shoot in manual.

Have fun! I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!!!
All I can say is Wow! about this little girl. Zoe is too cute!!! She was all smiles and funny faces for our shoot. Even in a light sprinkle she stayed smiling, pointing and clapping!
And here she is…

I know we always do the swings, but it’s such a good place for the children to be themselves… plus, it makes for some great photos!

These next two took getting my shirt drenched and all mulched up!… completely worth it!!!

One of my favorites from the shoot!

Zoe was all about clapping and…

Pointing!

BUBBLES!!!!!!

Haha! Zoe was trying land them on her tongue.

Yes!!! she got one!

I love the different ways Jen looks at things!

It’s time to finish. You did a GREAT job Zoe!

Lori and Chris – Thank you two for having us over to photograph Zoe. She is too adorabley cute. Next time we’re going to have to do the whole fam!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

WOW!!! It’s getting warm outside. Thankfully we have the occasional request like this one. The Vargos wanted to do their photos at the coolest little water park on the North-side. We were the first ones at the park that day and not another soul came by until after we left. It was great having the whole place to ourselves and we took full advantage!!!
This shoot Rocks… HARD! (just like Emma on her favorite horse!
)

Swings are always a blast to shoot on. – Jennifer’s shot! Gosh I love that lady!!!

The best part about this water park was this little creek. The runoff from all of the sprinklers would flow through this man-made creek. And then you could play there too!

Emma loved the pebbles!

Little Lily!

It was about this time that everyone went from dry to drenched!

Ahhhhh!

How cute is Lily!!!

Bubbles!!!

And Yes!, Lily is blowing some bubbles of her own! Look at her mouth. We love it!!!

Emma went to each ring to get a drink. I think maybe she thought they were different flavors??? Yup! This one’s definitely lemonade!

Vargos – Thank you Kristen and Johnny. You two are awesome and so are your wonderful little girls. We obviously had a blast shooting these. And we hope you like the outcome. See you soon!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
